He brought his Eventide H harmonizer in, even though we had a pair. Al had a blast singing it, and even came back another night to add some distorted harp. Are you featured at all on their upcoming album, Chasm? Ciravolo : Ashton is amazing. Mark Thwaite kindly made the introduction, for which I am forever grateful. I do know Ashton and I have a lot still to create together.

Why did you make the decision to have no keyboards on the album? It sounds like there is a mellotron in a few of the tracks. Is that guitar too? Ciravolo : Good ear! We had so many different guitar pedals, it looked maddening at points with them all spread out on the floor. Equally frustrating was having — at least what I thought was — some beautiful guitar textures only to be later buried or lost in the mix.

That lit the spark for BiC. Ciravolo : The evil technology certainly played a big part in making this record possible. Was there anyone you approached who was not able to participate for one reason or another that we may see performs with you on future BiC albums? Ciravolo : Robert Smith. I would play all of the guitars and there would be no synths. I wanted to create a heavily orchestrated sounding album, with lots of textures and all created with the electric guitars. Anything and everything! I love guitar effect pedals, and in many instances the sound that happens when I step on a combination of pedals is the genius of a song.

I have my dream producer! BIC would not be possible without Michael Rozon. He pushes me, sometimes to the point of insanity … but this always leads me into doing something better than I thought possible. Not often do you get to work with the top-2 on your list!!! I think my lack of being a guitar virtuoso has led me to creating my own specific style.

Not sure if that is good or bad, but it is a fact.

I did use some different chord voicings on some of the songs on our new album. I married her! I guess I have to look at the bands that made me want to be in a band from my teen years. These artists changed my path from wanting to play football to wanting to play guitar. I quickly learned girls liked guys in bands more than jocks!

Not only is he an outstanding and well respected musician, engineer and producer in his own right but also the President and CEO of Schecter Guitar Research. Their first release finding beauty in chaos is due for release on September 21, The vision of a beautiful flower growing in the middle of an abandoned burnt-out building replays over and over in my head when I look to describe the why.

Assembling, or in some cases, disassembling beautiful soundscapes, melodies and chords, while injecting harsh bursts of sonics … or visa versa. What kind of advice do you think would be helpful for a newer musician who is just starting out? I guess be true to who you are and what you really want to do. If you try to be something you are not, at some point it becomes obvious.

Learn some music theory, learn how to use and abuse your gear. There are no rules, and if there are… break them. Every musician has influences… bands or artists that sparked them to pick up an instrument or put pen to paper and write a song. Delve further into what influenced them, too. Did you grow up in a musical environment? When and where did it all start for you?

Not really, my parents were not musically inclined. My sister, who was quite a bit older than me, was a huge Beatles fan, but The Beatles did not resonate with me until much later. What was your inspiration behind the name Beauty In Chaos? And the name for your first record release Finding Beauty In Chaos? Some dear friends of mine back east shoot photos inside of abandoned buildings.

I saw a couple of them, gorgeous in their stillness with light coming through the broken windows. It just touched something in me. I think we are all looking for something, something beautiful in the chaos and madness that seems to surround us. I think the cover, which is exactly what I envisioned over a year ago when I started this, at least to me perfectly symbolizes beauty AND chaos.

What do you like or dislike about each one? Both very good things. It certainly pushed me out of my normal comfort zone as a guitarist.
